Speaks approached me to illustrate the album That Soul I know for Empty Hand Records. Featuring a stellar lineup of guest MCs from around the world, including Ced Gee from Ultramagnetic MC’s, grammy nominated Planet Asia, hip hop royalty in Brooklyn’s own Wordsworth, triple platinum-selling rapper 4-Ize from Atlanta, world renowned underground star Supastition, legendary Philadelphia OG Phill Most Chill, and UK heavyweights Uncle Mic Nitro, Krash Slaughta, Habitat 617 and Australian soul singer Simmer.
This album is Speaks’ homage to the musical influences of his formative years, the golden era of hip hop, set against a classic boom bap backdrop.
