The brief: illustrate Highrize Jamz for Empty Hand Records, a project two years in the making featuring guests including Wordsworth, 4-Ize, Pugs Atomz, Phill Most Chill, Uncle Mic Nitro and Krash Slaughta. I moved away from saturated digital imagery in favour of a hand-drawn style — markers and pens bleeding slightly on paper — to capture the nostalgic feel of early-90s pirate radio and the golden era of hip hop. Bright, unexpected colour brings out the album's personality, cutting through the noise to grab the audience in a way that feels playful, soulful and memorable.
